RespectIs anyone proud to be British anymore ?

Popular Alliance certainly are, but we are not proud of many aspects of life in the United Kingdom these days. The meddling Liberal motives that have been constantly thrust upon our lives have taken away so many things that we have always enjoyed about our country, and whilst the Liberals have not been in power since 1906, their influence upon the main two parties and our daily lives has been significant, whilst responsibility for many of these changes is passed around like wildfire.

That word “responsibility” is key here. So many people, nationals and immigrants, demand their rights, whilst they blatantly shirk their responsibilities. The result is a Liberal anarchy on the streets, in the courtroom, in schools, at the Social benefits office, it is everywhere and it is bringing this country down to its knees.

Simple issues such as litter, politeness and respect have been thrown away in a “can’t touch me” world where there is no authority. The type of respect suggested by the Respect Party is typical of the problems that we have allowed to fester and grow – are we to bow down and respect those who come here and simply demand and take with no thanks whatsoever ?

Litter is a very good place to start. Routes to most schools are strewn with discarded sweet wrappers, drinks cartons, crisp packets etc. Firstly, the consumption of such items prior to 9am is a typical example of little self respect and poor parenting. Such matters as putting litter in the bin and liking where you live should be sorted out in the home, yet we find that even asking someone to pick up the litter they have dropped is usually met with complete denial and outrage, sometimes threats. How small can these minds be ? How insecure must a person be to deny dropping sweet wrappers right under someone’s nose and then completely deny it ?

This all points to a complete lack of pride in ourselves, our homes, our neighbourhoods, our villages, towns, cities and country.  Binge drinking, drugs, bullying, theft, graffiti, under age smoking, gangs – these are all examples of activities undertaken by insecure people who are missing a certain level of pride in themselves and their surroundings. Yes, these symptom issues are visited within our law and order policy, however the root problems also require major attention, hence this strident policy.

A man in Essex has started a business hiring local ex-prisoners and trouble makers and teaching them to cut grass, carry out gardening work, paint fences and window sills, thereby making places look nice and tidy. He has found that this is having an enormous effect upon local youth behaviour and upon those carrying out the work, so much so, that many of his initial team have now set-up franchises to work for local councils and homes owners. Each team is bringing along more trouble makers and giving them something to be proud of, with the resulting effect upon their personalities being very positive.

Attitudes displayed on TV and through some music have also contributed to the attitude on our streets, yet those very people who have made it onto TV and our radio stations have themselves worked and hard and focused on achieving that status, however that hard work and goal is not the aspect seen by many, just the mouthy acting performance or the aggressive music.

The example given by our Justice System also beggars belief. Every day, newspapers are reporting of judges who have dished out weak sentences to violent, out of control people who show no respect and no remorse, yet those who defend what they are proud of and own, have the tables turned upon them.

It is noted in The Netherlands that home owners are offered a two-tier local rates option. Keep your house and garden in a tidy and presentable manner, you pay less. Leave your garden to overgrow, keep broken down vehicles, have shabby paintwork – pay more as a fine for lowering the standard of the neighbourhood. It should also be noted that this is a country where footballers nearly all have a number of education qualifications which are encouraged by their trainers from an early age. This is all about having self-respect and from this position, a respect can be built for others and their property.

Popular Alliance will try to encourage such positive actions, whereby the general levels of respect and pride can grow and have a positive effect upon society. Certainly the upkeep of homes and neighbourhoods is a good starting point.

The examples of role models should also be exploited. Perhaps we should encourage pop and rock music shows to not only present the music, but also demonstrate how many hours a guitarist has sat and practiced to reach the playing standard that has helped them arrive on TV and in the magazines. Likewise for actors, the hours spent learning lines and time spent waiting around for their turn on-set, then being prepared for their moment, to give their best performance and not keep others waiting around for them to get it right…. about footballers spending rainy afternoon after rainy afternoon practicing their skills, eating healthily etc.

Perhaps such simple moves could result in the next generation of drivers not threatening someone for tooting their horn after cutting them up in a dangerous manner. A generation that recognises what a litter bin is for and uses it.

Those who do wrong should face the consequences of their actions, with no exception.

Our Law and Order policy also states that Popular Alliance would hold a referendum on bringing back capital punishment – people have to recognise acceptable boundaries of behaviour and having now experienced the state of anarchy with many of those boundaries removed, it is plain to see how much they are needed in our lives. We acknowledge that the root to bullying, violent and aggressive behaviour and a blatant flaunting of rules is down to a lack of self pride and discipline. This should be started in the home, however the problem has reached such a crisis point that some stern measures are required across the board.

Perhaps our tourists can then visit another country and appreciate the fact that there is no litter, the fact that general behaviour is so much better than in our own country, that there are fewer pregnant teenagers………

Britain’s position in the international community is often seen from a pretty low standpoint, meanwhile, our shores are the destination of choice for almost every economical migrant and chancer out there. Perhaps we should recognise a correlation here – being so liberally free and easy has opened us up to lowering in our own standards and given opportunity to every freeloader around, both of long term British and ethnic descent. We do not see so many people flocking to Switzerland and we do not see many Swiss behaving like so many out of control, insecure British people. It is also our assumption that Switzerland does not have a huge underbelly of damagers and claimers, refusing to work and bringing their whole country and sense of national pride and respect, down around them.

Popular Alliance will work tirelessly to improve discipline within the United Kingdom. We shall not buckle under the onslaught of Liberal handwringers, it is precisely the mess that they have created that led us to form the Party in the first place. If Zero Tolerance Policing is the answer (and we shall take our lead from leading uniformed services personnel whom we respect) then we shall take that route.

Guidelines for expected behaviour will be set, local outlooks will improve and we shall strive to set a good example from the top
