It's not often we Blog about foreign affairs, however it looks like we could be in for another stint of anger, calling for beheadings, and stock price rises in companies that produce and sell national flags.
If so, be prepared for the often used word “Taken out of context” to be banded about over the coming weeks and also keep an eye open for the great appeaser Jack Straw to take this opportunity shore up his Muslim vote should this "outrage" come to British cities. The “religion of peace” looks like it is about to become “outraged” yet again according to this report which can be found HERE The Dutch Muslim Council has attacked far-right Dutch MP Geert Wilders' politics as "racist and fascist". The council, which includes 200 organisations, appealed for calm ahead of the planned release by the MP of a controversial film. Mr Wilders says his film will show the Koran as an inspiration for murder. The Dutch Muslim Council said its members' message to the Muslim and non-Muslim world was that conflict would do no-one any good. At a packed news conference, the council attacked Geert Wilders' right-wing politics as "racist, fascist and authoritarian" and a threat to Dutch society. The council appealed to Mr Wilders' supporters to consider the consequences of his film after it was released. Mr Wilders said the Dutch authorities had let him know that he may have to leave the country for his own safety. The government is preparing for possible reactions to the film in the Netherlands and overseas, but it is adamant that freedom of expression at the heart of the Dutch constitution must be guaranteed. Geert Wilders has been told that he may have to leave the country if he releases his film about Islam, reports say. National Counter-terrorism Co-ordinator Tjibbe Joustra is said to have warned the politician amid growing concern. The Dutch prime minister has spoken of fears the film could be offensive and "lead to reactions that endanger public order, security and the economy". One Iranian politician has warned of repercussions from the Muslim world. Alaeddin Boroujerdi, head of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, has called on the Dutch government to prevent Mr Wilders showing his film. "Otherwise, the Majlis deputies will call on the Iranian government to review its relations with the Netherlands," he told the Iranian news agency IRNA. Koran criticised Mr Wilders, the head of the Freedom Party and a lawmaker, has had police protection since Dutch director Theo Van Gogh was killed by a radical Islamist in 2004. Mr van Gogh's film Submission included texts from the Koran shown against a naked female body. Van Gogh was killed by a radical Islamist over his film Submission In the past, Mr Wilders has said the Koran is incompatible with Dutch values. The National Counter-terrorism Co-ordinator's office said it was in regular contact with Mr Wilders, but would not disclose details of talks. Mr Wilders has said his film will show how the Koran is "an inspiration for intolerance, murder and terror". The exact content of the 10-minute film is not yet known, but Mr Wilders says he will screen it on the internet if he cannot find a willing broadcaster. Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende said there were "major concerns at home and abroad that the film could be offensive and could lead to reactions that endanger public order, security and the economy". "The Netherlands has a tradition of freedom of speech, religion and lifestyle," he said. "The Netherlands also has a tradition of respect, tolerance and responsibility. Unnecessarily offending certain groups does not belong here." As well as the killing of Mr van Gogh, politicians are mindful of the widespread protests by Muslims that followed the publication of cartoons satirising the Prophet Muhammad in newspapers in Denmark and other European countries in 2006. The Popular Alliance cannot comment on whether the content of the film is racist or otherwise and like everyone else we will have to see the film to pass any judgement. What we can be sure about is that every crackpot Muslim who bears a grudge against the west will be out shouting from the rooftops for bombings and beheadings while every politically correct apologist and so called unelected Muslim representatives will be telling the world the Koran has been taken out of context if the film proves to be factual about what the Koran actually says. We also urge the police to arrest anyone who commits or incites murder in this country, should this “outrage” become a global event and British Muslims take part in any demonstrations that break the law. It may be a storm in a tea cup however, the film may not provoke any reaction at all, but with the Dutch Muslim council beginning to huff and puff before they have even seen the film, it does not bode well. We do agree with the Dutch government that freedom of speech and the right to criticise, dissect and discuss difficult issues such as religion “warts and all” should be allowed, and it is up to people like the moderate Muslim scholars to convince otherwise through discussion and not let the minority rabble of far right extremist clerics and Islamic terrorists get their way and show the film to be a correct representation of the Koran.
