Popular Alliance Leader and Stretton Parish Councillor Brian Buxton will be standing as a candidate in the East Staffordshire Borough Council by-election to replace a disgraced Tory Councillor in the Stretton Ward, due to be held on February 14th, 2008. Since being elected to Stretton Parish Council, Brian has worked very hard in initiating and holding reguilar meetings with Burton Police Chiefs, regarding problems in Stretton, which have led to 21 applicants for Special Constable positions for Stretton, more police attention in the village and positive correspondence with local newspapers. Brian is a member of the Traffic sub-committee and has also initiated discussions with local residents and community groups regarding the formation of a Youth Club. Along with fellow PA Parish Councillor Craig Chapman, Brian has run monthly Local Issues Surgeries (which have been opposed by the local Tories), canvassed local opinion on several issues, set up a stall at the Church Summer Fete to discuss local issues and concerns with residents as well as run petitions through many local shops to gain a local view of traffic problems and priorities. These democratic, pro-active and committed actions are typical of what the Popular Alliance stand for and demonstrate the consistency of our policies and message. Brian promises equal commitment and integrity for the Borough Council where party politics play a big part. He will be able to represent the side of what Burton and Stretton NEED and not what some national dictat tells local Councillors to vote for or oppose. He is always available and willing to discuss local and national issues. We always LISTEN to what YOU have to SAY, and we can be found via our local website, HERE
