Our first Blog of 2007 must be the awful stench of sleaze and blackmail by the Saudi government of our government.
Just before Christmas the Serious Fraud Office were investigating 1980’s BAE systems deal but were swiftly jumped on by the government and ordered to drop the case. This was due to the Saudi dictatorship saying it would drop the contract for the now outdated and obsolete Euro fighter which is billions of Euros over budget. The inquiry was into long running allegations that BAe, Britain’s leading defence contractor, operated a £60 million slush fund to oil the wheels of its largest-ever overseas arms deal, the Al Yamamah contract for Tornado jetfighters. Secured by Margaret Thatcher in 1985, the deal has brought BAe £42 billion ($84 billion) in the 18 years since it began and staved off BAe’s near-bankruptcy during the lean years of the early 1990s. At the end of 2005, after Blair’s personal intervention to clinch the deal, BAe secured a third order—for 72 Euro fighter Typhoon jet fighters, variously stated in the press to be worth between £6 billion and £40 billion. Prior to that, the Typhoon had failed to secure any significant export orders.
This scandal and the stench of corruption spans both Labour and Conservative governments alike, and shows just how much alike they really are when it comes to cover ups, sleaze and mismanagement. You can find more information on this HERE Breaking News: Belarus has halted Russian oil supplies to Poland, Germany and Ukraine after a trade row with Moscow escalated. Yet again not only are the government held to ransom and blackmail by dictatorships, we now have another potentially serious oil supply problem affecting Europe, and because of the EU mismanagement on energy, we will no doubt have the fat cats jumping for joy about this "windfall" to increase energy prices even though its now been proved that there is no link to oil because of the refusal of greedy energy suppliers to reduce prices when oil prices fell. News Item may be found HERE The Times Online is reporting health tourists are receiving free National Health Service kidney treatment worth about £30,000 a year, and potentially competing with British patients for scarce transplants, according to new data. The information, released under the Freedom of Information Act, shows that one hospital is spending up to £1m a year on dialysis for nearly 40 non-British residents; another has placed two asylum seekers on its waiting list for transplants and a third has recovered only 2% of its costs from overseas patients. Yet again, more evidence that a massive burden is being put on resources by Blair and his self serving cronies whilst the rest of us suffer their lunacy on mass migration, immigration and asylum seekers. More on this story HERE And last but not least, not only do we have corruption, sleaze, incompetence and mismanagement to look forward to in 2007, we have that new government initiative called “hypocrisy” as one of Blair’s senior ministers putting her offspring into private education when her government said all special needs should integrate into “state” school. However Ex-Education Secretary Ruth Kelly has defended her decision to send her son, who has "substantial learning difficulties", to a private school, but the Popular Alliance must ask this question, why is state schooling not good enough ?, is it possible she is telling us all that the government education policy is a complete and utter failure. Full story HERE And on a final note, anyone who trusts the government on the old dangerous technology of nuclear power plants, yet another monumental accident has occurred at Sizewell when a pipe “leaked” 40,000 gallons of radio active water into the plant, and although they tell the public it was contained, unfortunately some of us know that water has a nasty habit of taking the quickest root into the water table below, but they wouldn’t wish to tell you that, would they? So there we have it, more of the same for 2007, a government run by Sleaze, Corruption, Underhandedness, and Mismanagement. Say no to all this. Join Popular Alliance and help us to get out of the madhouse. First published 09/01/07 |
