The insanity of it all, if you tell it like it is, or dare speak the truth, you're fired
A Tory MP Patrick Mercer - who was forced to quit his frontbench role over comments he made about black soldiers - has said he is not a racist, and judging by the amount of supporting comments, it would appear that a majority agree with him. An interesting comment posted by an old salt on the BBC reminded me of my days in the “senior service” and he says this “I never came across anyone in the Royal Navy who I perceived to be racist in the sense that they had a grievance against a particular race. However, I heard on a daily basis lots of racist, sexist, hairist, fattist, thinnist, anti-Welsh, Scottish, Irish, Australian, American, anti-officers-in-general, anti-civvies, anti-anyone-not-in-my-branch - in fact anti-anyone and everyone. You give as good as you get. That's just the way it is and that's what Mr Mercer was trying to describe.” And I have to agree, the rivalry between differing cultures was always done in a fun way, the insults under training were part and parcel of military life, we all suffered the drill instructor's wrath, whether white, black, asian, chinese, green, purple, polkadot, it mattered not one iota to these men, you were all a huge “disappointment to the queen," and boy oh boy the language and insults made sure that Her Majesty could remove the word "failure" from her vocabulary. On board ship, that rivalry continued, Jocks insulting Welsh, English Sassenach’s knobbling the Jocks, Lowlander Jocks ribbing Highlander Jocks, Taffs insulting the Irish, and the Irish insulting everyone and those who were black or ethnic were not immune either, but they gave as good as they got. However, one important fact amongst all this “politically correct wrongdoing” was that when we were in-trouble or one of us needed our backs covering, every single man could be counted on, it did not matter what race, colour, or religion you were, as far as you and they were concerned, you were all brothers, and no one was going to do harm to any of our own. Mr Mercer was swiftly jumped on by the politically correct, bone idle, and “breathtakingly” incompetent political establishment, and unfortunately for Mr Mercer, his feet did not touch the ground, but he can rest assured, that those who ostracised him would never put themselves in front of a bullet or even be seen within a hundreds miles of a battlefield, they usually like to wait for a nice quiet spell and fly in unannounced for a publicity photo shoot. The Popular Alliance says, never trust career politicians to back you up, they would sell their own grandmothers if it meant they could score an extra politically correct point. We would also like to ask Mr Mercer, would you trust any of this lot to look after your back? If the answer is no, then we must also ask, why support them?, they are not of the same breed, they have all had their spines surgically removed to ensure a politically correct posture is maintained at all times, it also helps them flip flop, bend and do U turns, and not one of them can ever be trusted.
