LynxFollowing on from our Blog on the release and handling of the fifteen servicemen, we have drafted this Blog for your opinion and discussion on our forum.

Having served in the Royal Navy, the author of this Blog comments that what should have happened originally, especially after the 2004 capture fiasco.

As there is no declaration of war with Iran the supporting helicopter should have fired warning shots across the bows of the Iranian forces encouraging them to turn back, this procedure of firing warning shots from British guns was used in the cod war with the Icelandic gun boats usually heeding the warning and turning back.

If this had happened, there would have been no crisis for the government, however if the Iranians had still continued on their course towards our troops then firing on the lead craft would almost have certainly deterred the others from approaching.

If one or more of the Iranian craft had been sunk with loss of life and it was proved they were in Iraqi waters we would have had the usual hullabaloo from the Muslim world, UN getting involved, US ramping up to a state of readiness and lots of sabre rattling, more suicide bombs and oil prices going up as usual, but eventually this would have died down and some form of “normality” if it can  be called that, would have returned and the Iranians would know their place and would be wary of trying any more stunts of encroaching on Iraqi waters again.

However, due to Blair’s soft and incompetent handling of our military, and this episode being seen as a complete humiliation of our forces and the government, especially by the hard hitting press as well as stinging comments from the likes of Richard Littlejohn and his ilk, the area known as Iran could be doomed to being reduced to rubble.

The press and media have put massive pressure on the government, and a third time is definitely not an option to either them, the British public or Blair.

At this very moment, the Navy is being given instruction that under no circumstances is this to be allowed to happen again, its just too humiliating for Blair and his incompetents, there will be two helicopters supporting the boarding parties and sure enough if the Iranians chance their arm for the third time, and they are likely to do so because they see Blair as a soft target having embarrassed him twice already, you can rest assured that the helicopter gunships will warn the boarding party to get out.

However a small fast heavily armed Iranian patrol craft can cover 1 nautical mile very quickly indeed, and those Iranians once over the line will continue on their course and the helicopters will have no alternative but to blow them away.

The big difference this time will be that Iran will see this as an act of war after their “gift” to the British people has been dishonoured and would probably launch fast attack fighters to redress the balance, the US carriers in the region will spot them as soon as they leave their hangars and launch an interception squadron and will most definitely score a kill.

This will inflame the Iranian guard on the water way who would try and cross into Basra as well as give the order for sleeper suicide bombers to kill their targets.

Bush will not tolerate any Iranian military action against either US or British troops and he would have no option but to launch an all out air strike on military airfields, and bases, both British and US attack submarines would take out Iranian nuclear facilities with cruise missiles and stealth bombers will drop bunker busters.

Israel could and probably would launch massive strikes at Syria (who support Iran) to cover their own backs and to stop any incursion or thought of any strikes against US and Israeli targets based in their region.

The region would certainly boil over into a melting pot of all out warfare, oil prices would rocket and stock markets around the world would crash around our ears.

Home grown Muslim terrorists would come crawling out of the woodwork and our police would have to become a semi military organisation to contain the anger and violence that “may” erupt onto our streets in some of our more radicalised cities.

Not a very pretty picture is it ?, the Popular Alliance does not say this will definitely happen, nor is it likely to, but lets hope those buffoons running our military see the potential danger and start building a military fit for purpose with the best equipment and lots of visible presence to deter the Iranians from even thinking about a third time.

Tell us what you think about this government led military fiasco, drop into our forum and post a comment or two, has Blair’s weakness this time round "upped" the stakes of military action against Iran?, do you think it could be third time unlucky, or is Blair now so weak he is frightened of his own shadow and we get more of the same.
